3-D Cell Model Project -
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to make a 3D model of either a plant cell, or an animal cell in
order to better understand the structures, or organelles, and the functions of those structures in the
cell.
Using household items make a three-dimensional model of a plant or animal cell that meets the
criteria listed below. (Sample items: cereal, balloons, gummy worms, mints, fruit slices, dried fruit,
gum balls, peanuts, rope licorice, jelly beans, sesame seeds, other candies, jello, cake, toothpicks,
Styrofoam, clay, beads, pipe cleaners…etc)
Choose what type of cell you will build, a typical plant or animal cell. Include a label for the type of cell
you’ve chosen somewhere on your model. Label each structure in your cell and create a KEY for
each part on your model and tell its function. Make a materials list of items used in constructing the
cell.
